“A fresh start. A clean beginning. New year, new me.” ….
I think we often view the beginning of the year as this beautiful time when everything is just going to click. Expectations are set. Vision boards are in place. You’ve got a plan. This will finally be the time that the routine just works well, you get those 8 hours of sleep, you finally organize everything perfectly, and going to the gym every day is easy.
If that were the case, then would there really be a need for a clean start? If it were that easy, why couldn’t a random Wednesday get our butts into gear just like January 1st is supposed to?
I think as entrepreneurs we excel at putting pressure on ourselves to fit into our idea of success or “having it all together” without accounting for the process of getting there. This hard work requires some serious dedication and grit.
Yes, we might not get through all of our emails on the first day or check all the boxes on our tada list the second. Heck, it might take us the whole month of January – (did I hear you whisper “year”) – to get through that pile of miscellaneous papers on our desk.
Maybe we’ll have to remind ourselves for the rest of the year that our bodies are actually capable of doing a hard workout, even if the mind is like “meh, this is too hard…”
The point is – keep at it. Keep going. Keep trying. Keep in.
There’s no-one to impress.
This is you. Do you. Just start, even if it’s a little messy.
